Omar Rodriguez Lopez may be best known as one half of the core duo of progressive rock visionaries The Mars Volta, as well as one the founding members of the ground breaking post-hardcore band, At The Drive-In, Roridguez Lopez is a world-renowned artist whose talents go far beyond the musical vision he’s so lauded for.
Following a brief national tour early in 2012, this November and December, Omar Rodgriguez Lopez and his band will be returning to Australia for a series of headline performances in all major cities, as well as co-headlining the Cherry Rock festival in Melbourne.
First making his mark as a guitar provocateur in the influential, and recently re-united At The Drive In, the band’s first split saw Rodriguez Lopez – along with fellow artist and bandmate Cedric Bixler Zavala – departing to form the creative sonic ensemble that is the ever-evoloving The Mars Volta.
During that time, Omar established himself as a world class solo artist, with an exhaustive work ethic and a prolific discography to his name, who somehow also manages to find time as a label manager, producer, budding actor and film director with his film production company, Omar Rodriguez Lopez Productions.
