Ozzy Osbourne has opened up about his final tour with Black Sabbath, explaining that he ‘wasn’t allowed to have fun’ while performing.

For anyone who has ever heard anything about Ozzy Osbourne, it’s quite clear that he’s not exactly the type to take life too seriously. With enough wild stories to fill a book, the rocker tends to enjoy doing things his own way, which appears to be his reason for not enjoying Black Sabbath’s final tour.

Throughout 2016 and 2017, Black Sabbath played 81 shows around the world, serving as a way to wave goodbye to their legions of fans after decades as heavy metal pioneers. While it initially seemed like their breakup might not be permanent, Ozzy Osbourne has now revealed that he prefers performing solo anyway.

“With Sabbath, all I am is a singer with a band,” he explained in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. “[My solo career] is a different thing. I’ve got a lot of freedom and I have fun with it.

“It’s not allowed to have fucking fun with Sabbath,” he revealed. “It’s too serious. Tony [Iommi] was trying to have a go at me, saying, ‘Don’t fucking talk over my solos.’ I go, ‘OK, are you sure? ‘Cause most of the fucking song is solos. The intro to the song is fuckin’ five minutes and then I sing for about two seconds and then it’s another one.’”

“With my own thing, I’m looking to have fun, and that’s what music’s about for me. I’m not a serious fucking singer. I’m just a frontman who’s trying to get the crowd going in front.”

While Ozzy Osbourne seemed to enjoy his time on the road with the band, this isn’t the first time he revealed his distaste for the final tour.

“I didn’t have a great time,” Osbourne explained to The Philadelphia Inquirer last month. “I spent nine or 10 years in Sabbath, but I’d been away from them for over 30 years.”

“With them, I’m just a singer. With me, I get to do what I want to do. I was getting bad vibes from them for being Ozzy. I don’t know, what the f- else can I be?”

Although Black Sabbath’s final lap might not have been too fun for him, Aussie fans will get the chance to see Ozzy Osbourne having a better time next year when he visits for the Download Festival. It’s shaping up to be the last time that Australians have the chance to see the Prince of Darkness on our shores, so don’t miss out!
