The Tone Deaf crew are all a bit sore and sorry for themselves after turning up to training and selections yesterday for the Community Cup , which sees the Espy Rockdogs and the RRR/PBS Megahertz squaring off in front of 10,000 people at Elsternwick Park on the last Sunday in June to battle it out for the Community Cup. However, in an exclusive to Tone Deaf, we’re excited to be the first media outlet in Australia to announce that legendary Aussie songwriter Paul Kelly will be coaching the side.

Fresh from playing with Bob Dylan, Kelly will be doing his best with a team that has dubious talent but a lot of attitude. Members of The Spazzys, The Drones, Vice Grip Pussies, Bitter Sweet Kicks and The Vandas were amongst a cast of thousands who turned up to a fiercely contested training and selection session, which saw a broken nose and a broken finger added to the pre-season injury toll.

Mercurial Captain Dan Sultan was spotted in his usual St Kilda jumper as he led the team through its paces, while team regular Tim Rogers of You Am I phoned through his apology for not making the session, blaming a strenuous tour which will see him back in town just in time to make the match itself.

All proceeds from the match go towards Reclink, which helps provide sporting services to the socially disadvantaged and you’re all invited to come and join the crowd at Elsternwick Park in Melbourne on Sunday 26th June for a massive day of footy and fun!
