Beatles legend Paul McCartney has popped the question and is set to marry for the third time. Despite being married to Heather Mills which would scare most people off the institution for an eternity, brave Macca has put an engagement ring on the finger of New Yorker Nancy Shevell, his girlfriend of four years.

While the details of the engagement are scant, McCartney’s spokesman Stuart Bell confirmed the engagement after much media speculation and says “We’re all thrilled for him.” Unlike gold digger Heather Mills, who attempted to take him to the cleaners to the tune of £125 million during their acrimonious divorce, Shevell is a wealthy woman in her own right, and sits on the board of the New York Metropolitan Transit Authority, as well as holding the position of Vice President of her wealthy family business conglomerate.

More importantly, she is said to get along with McCartney’s children whom he had with first wife Linda Eastman, who died of cancer in 1998. McCartney’s brood, who include fashion designer Stella McCartney were reported to have hated Mills and disapproved of his marriage to her. Despite the trials and tribulations of his last marriage, McCartney is said to remain optimistic over affaires du couer, saying “I just like being in love.”
