Mike McCready of Pearl Jam has teamed up with some of the most iconic members of the ’90s alt-rock scene to deliver a set of covers at a US music festival.
Back in April, Record Store Day fans were treated to something very special in California when an all-star group of rockers teamed up to deliver a set full of T. Rex covers.
Featuring Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, Eric Avery of Jane’s Addiction, and Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, this ’90s rock supergroup was a huge hit with fans, leading to cries of more from all of those in attendance.
Now, history has repeated, with Mike McCready getting most of the band back together again for a second run.

On Saturday, the US state of Montana played host to the Peak To Sky music festival, an event that featured two days of music curated by none other than Mike McCready of Pearl Jam.
While fans were undoubtedly stoked about what was on offer, it was the promise of a performance from McCready and his “All-Star Friends” that got people talking, with Chad Smith and Joh Klinghoffer reprising their roles, along with new appearances from Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters, Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, and Brandi Carlile joining the fold.
“I love playing music with Chad Smith, Duff McKagan and Josh Klinghoffer,” McCready said on the festival’s site. “I am stoked to play with Taylor Hawkins too. Asking Brandi Carlile to be a part of this event was a no brainer.”
Hitting the stage over the weekend, this all-star cast of musicians delivered a monstrous 19-song set full of covers by Van Halen, The Kinks, T. Rex, David Bowie, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and Prince.
Undoubtedly a massive day of music, both in terms of content and personnel, there’s no word when or if Mike McCready and his friends will be reprising their roles on stage, but we’re hoping it’s sooner rather than later!
