For most of us, Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown largely consists of sitting around with friends and family, enjoying Australia Day, and making sure the radio is loud, the beer is cold, and the chips are plentiful. Not so for Aussie electronic duo Peking Duk and their pal The Kite String Tangle.

Though the ‘Take Me Over’ hit-makers claim that their Hottest 100 ritual was passed on, somewhat incongruously, from their “father’s father… to his father’s father”, we think these boys might be labouring under a misapprehension or a big-time misunderstanding, as they wolf down 100 blazing hot chillies.

As readers can see in the video below, the guys are soon made painfully ware that the Hottest 100 has nothing to do with downing “Aztecan, North Mongolian, [and] West Siberian” chillies, thanks to Aussie rap vanguard Illy, who makes a cameo appearance as the voice of reason in the clip.

Also featured in the vid is singer-songwriter Dustin Tebbutt, who appears for just a brief moment to remind the guys about their roots. Of course, the whole point of the vid is to remind viewers that they still have time to cast their votes for the Triple J Hottest 100, so if you haven’t yet, get on it.
