Perth raised and now London based electro rockers Pendulum are planning to take next year off to rest and record a new album, they revealed to fans over the weekend at the V Festival in the UK.

The massively popular dance outfit told the crowd that after solidly touring their third album Immersion since it was released last year, they needed a break.

They told punters in the packed crowd “We want to thank everyone who has supported Pendulum over the last five years. We’re going to take next year off to make a new album and then we’ll be back in 2013. We look forward to seeing you all then.”

Formed in Perth in 2002 by mates Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen, they joined forces with veteran drum & bass DJ Paul Harding to form Pendulum, before moving to the UK the following year.

Plenty of hard graft and a bit of luck saw them hit the UK top 10 with a track from their second album In Silico, ‘Propane Nightmares’. This year has seen them lay festivals ranging from Glastonbury to Dowload to Oxegen to T In The Park, and they will finish it up by playing New Zealand’s Rhythm and Vines Festival over New Year’s Eve.

However, Aussie music fans will remember them most fondly for their drum n’ bass n’ electro remix of the ABC News Theme, which was a Triple J favourite in 2010.
