The Perfections have hit the nail on its head with their self-proclaimed garage soul groove, and the train ain’t slowing down any time soon.

The Melbourne based six-piece are bringing a new kind of flavor to the music scene, with an interesting analog sound accompanied by zesty vocals which are found in their opening track “Lemon”.

You’ll notice things starting to heat up as “Born Again” puts your deepest secrets to rest and lets you drift into the sound of Pisani’s well-orchestrated guitar riff.

Arnold pulls you right back as the spine tingling pitch of her first vocal line slaps you straight in the face.

As you regain composure from the previous track, you’ll be impressed to find The Perfections sitting high upon their musical perch as solid crescendos, and equally impressive troughs become a prominent feature throughout the self-titled six-track EP.

“My Man Don’t Think I Know” seals the deal and concludes the record in style. A catchy horn section mates with a soul-searching verse, and round, and round it goes until out pops Otis Redding and The Stooges.

The songs are short, but there’s no questioning their sweetness as catchy melodies hold your hand through ripened vineyards of the finest grapes that brew in your freshly opened bottle of red.

As good as the riffs are, some technical aspects of Pisani’s guitaring could be improved. But on the whole it works extremely well with the 70s soundscape.
