No stranger to burglary after being arrested and jailed for breaking into bandmate Carl Brat’s flat, Pete Doherty has been let off charges of breaking into a music store after the judge ruled he was too drunk to know what he was doing.

The incident happened in March this year in the Bavarian town of Regensberg in Germany where Doherty was filming his role in an upcoming film. He allegedly smashed the window of the music store and stole a guitar and a number of records.

According to NME, Doherty admitted to smashing the window but couldn’t remember if he stole anything as he was too drunk. Apparently that’s any excuse that holds up in a German court as they have now dropped all charges. Doherty, who was only released a few months ago from prison for cocaine possession faced five years in the clink had he been convicted of the theft.

Doherty was in Germany filming scenes for the upcoming French Alfred de Musset biopic ‘Confessions of a Young Contemporary’, starring alongside fellow musician Charlotte Gainsbourg. The production has been delayed several times due to ongoing legal issues with Doherty.
