Another day, another yarn about Pete Doherty facing jail on drug charges. This time, he’s pleaded guilty in Snaresbrook Crown Court in London to charges of possessing cocaine. The charges stem from a nose candy fuelled party at his flat which saw his fan and friend, film maker Rahcel Whitehead, die of an overdose.

While Doherty has proved to have a remarkable ability to get out of going to jail on seemingly dozens of drug charges, this time he may be facing another stint in the slammer. Whitehead was the great niece of the late billionaire James Goldsmith, father of socialite and Julian Assange supporter Jemima Khan, which means people with lots of money and influence have been agitating for Doherty to go to jail for his alleged role in her death.
