When worlds collide in music only two things can happen. Either something brilliant, or something totally embarrassing. We take a look at some of weirder collaborations that no one saw coming. Did they work? Some did. But we’ll let you be the judge.

James Brown and Pavarotti

Coming from two completely different worlds, somehow this combination of drug-fuelled womaniser meets opera loving fatty just works.

Ozzy Osbourne and Miss Piggy

We suppose it’s only natural that Ozzy would release a song with his daughter. Oh wait, you mean the actual Miss Piggy. Yeah, that’s just weird then.

Eminem and Elton John

Supposed gay hater meets gay icon. We would have loved to be a fly on the wall backstage for this one. Somehow we just can’t see Eminem’s crew gelling nicely with Elton’s. Many saw this performance as highly hypocritical whilst others applauded it for its statement against prejudice.

Five and Queen

Ok, so it’s not really Queen without Freddie Mercury who was dead by this time. Although we’re sure he rolled over in his grave on news of this awful collaboration.

Burt Bacharach and Dr Dre

You’d be forgiven for thinking too many raindrops had fallen on Burt Bacharach’s head when he decided to enlist Dr Dre to make the beats for his upcoming album. Even weirder Dr Dre was so inspired he asked Bacharach to write some melodies he could use in his next album. Dre later rejected the melodies saying they were “too musically extreme for hip-hop.”

Buzz Aldrin and Snoop Dogg

What else is there to do when you’ve conquered space and can lay claim to being of only a handful of humans to walk on the moon? Lay down a dope rap track of course!

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Phil Collins

Was this an attempt to stay relevant, or just poor judgement? You make the call.

Jack White and Insane Clown Posse

This collaboration captured the attention of the music community worldwide. We can’t make our mind up if it’s the worst or best thing Jack has done in recent years. Although we will admit that it’s kinda catchy given how god-awful bad it is.

Celine Dion and R.Kelly

Rapper R.Kelly’s career was faltering when he announced a collaboration with the songbird the world loves to hate, Celine Dion. It went number 1 so we guess it wasn’t such a bad call after all.

Metallica and Lou Reed

This was only ever going to be completely brilliant or total garbage. Turns out it’s garbage.

Nelly and Tim Mcgraw

On first inspection an attempt to meld hip hop and country music seems totally crazy. But when you think about it both have roots in poverty stricken communities. You can make you own mind up whether you think this works.

Kesha and Alice Cooper

The original shock rocker meets female shock popper. There’s a weird sexual energy we get from these two, and that’s pretty disconcerting given that Kesha reminds us a lot of Alice Cooper’s daughter Calico. Regardless, I think we can all agree that the resulting music garbage belongs firmly in the trashcan.
