Sydney’s King Colour have been on the local scene for a few years now, and in between playing plenty of live shows and seeing airplay on triple j, they’ve managed to craft themselves a pretty sweet sound. Now, ahead of the release of their debut EP in March, the group have premiered their newest single, ‘Shimmer’.

Having seen plenty of love with their previous tracks ‘Blue Horizon’ and ‘Lost My Cool’, King Colour have been hard at work in the studio, putting the final touches on their long-awaited EP Mood Lighting, which is set for a mid-March release.

The EP’s newest single, ‘Shimmer’, sees the group drawing influence from a wide range of versatile artists, such as Tame Impala, Mac DeMarco, and Mild High Club, showing of their chilled, jazz-inspired sound.

Featuring some slick, surf-rock inspired hooks, ‘Shimmer’ draws you in with its smooth vocal delivery, before it hits with a powerful chorus that only continues to prove just how accomplished these musos are.

‘Shimmer’ is set for an official release this Friday through their Yeah Nah Yeah label, which is also when the group’s Mood Lighting EP will also be made available for pre-order ahead of its release next month.

King Colour are also set to hit the live stage in a couple of months when they support Donny Benet at the Oxford Art Factory on April 27th. Be sure to head along to check out one of the smoothest groups to come out of Sydney in a long time.
