Having been on the scene for a few of years now, taking their brilliant sound and intense live show with them everywhere they go, Terrigal’s Nelipot have returned with the stunning video for their latest tune, ‘Hudson Lane’.
Comprised of three high-school mates, Jordan, Jordyn, and Ben, Nelipot first burst into existence back in 2016, with the group’s members having spent weekend nights getting together to busk with blues-rock covers. Almost immediately, the group’s immersive britpop sound found them supporting a number of local and international acts, including Kingswood, Luca Brasi, The Orwells, and The Jungle Giants, just to name a few.
Now, having given fans the chance to hear ‘Hudson Lane’ just a few weeks ago on triple j Unearthed, Nelipot have dropped the video for the new single.
Recorded in February with producer and engineer Jack Nigro, ‘Hudson Lane’ is a tribute to the titular Hudson Lane – often named as one of the most exciting places in the band’s hometown of Terrigal – while also serving as somewhat of a satirical observation of wasted youth.
The tune’s clip shows the members of Nelipot undertaking rather simple domestic activities on Hudson Lane before they head out to deliver one of their intense live performances. A real slow-burner, the video manages to give context to the track and shows the way in which people in the area tend to ‘live their lives on Hudson Lane’.
“We [Nelipot & Lumin Gate Visual] were going for a kind of tastefully-whimsical approach,” explained the band. “It’s not a serious video, but it’s definitely not a piss-take of our town. Anyone around the Coast who’s had more than a beer or two of a Sunday night can probably tell you a story involving Hudson.”
“We know that laneway has seen some things and it is more than deserving of a little tribute.”
With some brilliant songwriting behind it, some slick production, and now an immersive film clip to give context to the track, you can be sure you’ll be hearing plenty more of Nelipot’s ‘Hudson Lane’ in the future.
