A massive contingent of stars including Radiohead’s Phil Selway, Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason and The Police’s Stewart Copeland plus musicians from 15+ nations, have got behind the drums simultaneously in support of peace in Sudan.

Sudan365 campaign sees each of the drummers appearing in a film that launched online on Saturdaywith musicians worldwide simultaneously drumming for peace. Jamie Catto  – drummer of Faithless  – was the behind the idea, which features a video of drummers collectively ‘beating for peace’ via music and building awarness of the problems Sudan faces.

Radiohead’s Phil Selway stated “I wanted to be involved in this project because I think music is such a powerful way of bringing people together … of course, I’m biased in thinking that what’s underpinning it all is always the beat – always drummers!”

He added: “Hopefully this film will show that together people can make a huge noise and through this film I hope people’s focus will be brought back to what is happening in the Sudan over this very important next year.”

Other drummers in the film include Snow Patrol’s Jonny Quinn, renowned Egyptian drummer Yehia Khalil and Mustapha Tettey Addyfrom Ghana plus many more.

Sudan365 calls on global leaders to take urgent diplomatic action over the next year in order to prevent the country from slipping back into all-out conflict. Check out official website for full details and how to support them here
