Rage Against the Machine have just announced that their single “KILLING IN THE NAME” is number one on the Christmas Week UK pop charts beating out Simon Cowell’s X-Factor winner, and they will honour this accolade with a free show in London.

Tom Morrello guitarist of RATM wrote on their site ‘If the unprecedented grass roots movement topples the X-Factor monopoly and is successful in making Rage number one the group we will return to UK shores sometime in 2010 for a massive thank you gig’.

And get this…Rage have vowed to invite 2nd Place finisher, X-Factor empresario Simon Cowell, to MC the show!

The track sold more than 500,000 copies in the week leading up to the end of business yesterday (December 19) beating its rival by 50,000 copies.
