Oh boy are some people in the editorial offices of Tone Deaf HQ excited about this one! We’d been hearing rumours and sworn to secrecy but now we can finally reveal that one of our favourite Aussie bands of all time, Ratcat, is returning to the live stage! In case you have been living under a rock for 21 years, you’d know that in 1990 the band released the ground breaking Tingles EP which hit the top of the National Top Forty after 7 months eventually grabbed the coveted number 1 spot.

The subsequent release of their Blind Love album in 1991 saw them top the charts again, astounding the music industry who until previously had assumed that you needed to be a commercial act signed to a major record label to have an impact on the charts. For two years or so, Ratcat played to crowds bordering on the hysterical, with thousands of teenage girls wetting their undies at the sight of sex symbol singer Simon Day in his trademark stripy top cooing ‘Baby baby I love you so/And I don’t wanna let you go’.

Well wait no longer girls who are now 30 something mothers and new fans alike – the band are playing a one off show to mark the 20th anniversary of Blind Love at the Factory Theatre in Marrickville in Sydney on June 18. This venue is waaay too small for the number of fans that will want to come, so while we book our flights right now, you’d better be ready to buy your tix when they go on sale on Friday May 13th.
