Record Store Day, which was held on Saturday, was hailed as a huge success by all the stores Tone Deaf visited on the day, with suggestions that attendance at the stores was up to double that of last year. The stores stocking the limited edition record store day releases from the likes of The White Stripes, Nirvana and Sonic youth flew out the doors, with Australian fans queuing up to wait for the stores to open to snap up copies.

Overseas it was a similar story, with UK and US stores reporting people lining up in the wee hours to get their hands on releases from artists including Radiohead, Grinderman, Bat For Lashes and Suede. Nirvana’s Hoarmoaning Record Store Day EP re-release is already up for sale on Ebay for up to $A65.
