On February 18th, the world was gifted with one the most positive updates on Tool’s new album.

Maynard James Keenan took to Twitter just  4,311 days after the band’s last album was released to say, “Started getting music files from the boys w the word FINAL in the title a few months ago after 11 years of begging.”

“Tha, in theory, means the tracks wont change out from under me while I’m trying to write stories and melodies to them. In theory. Still waiting for the FINAL on 1, but way ahead.”

“Words & Melodies 100% DONE on all but 1. Someday we’ll track them. Long way from the finish line, but at least we’re closer.”

Now, Adam Jones has taken to Instagram to basically confirm that those lyrics and melodies are slowly becoming fully fledged songs, noting that was “Day 1” of what is being taken as tracking.

We expect plenty more updates to come – however, let’s hope it doesn’t take another 11 years to record.

Tom Morello also said, after previewing the band’s new music late last year that fans could expect the album to sound “mysterious and sexy”. Whatever that could possibly mean in the world of Tool is both exciting and, a little bit scary. Hang tight.
