Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to make the launch of their new album I’m With You by launching it with a live performance in Cologne, Germany, which is to be screened in cinemas across the world. The concert will take place on August 30th and will be screened in cinemas that night, US time, for which fans can purchase tickets on the band’s website. The band will perform the new album in full followed by a run through a greatest hits selection. They say “Don’t miss RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS in the first and only live performance of their new album I’m With You in its entirety, plus select greatest hits, captured live in high-definition on Tuesday, August 30th, and broadcast to movie screens the same evening.”

Fans can select their own country on the website to find out participating cinemas, although at the time of writing no information was yet available for Australian screenings.  From what we’ve heard of it (and the album is being kept firmly under wraps by the band’s record label’ the album sees the band getting down and dirty with more focus on a  guitar sound than they’ve had in a while, which in a recent interview with Spin, bass player Flea attributed to new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer’s presence. He said “Because of that, the feeling of the music is a lot different. John is a brilliant virtuoso guitar player, who could do whatever he wants on the guitar. It’s unbelievable and I’m so fucking grateful for his contributions to the band. But Josh is a subtler textural player who also plays and writes on a lot of different instruments. He’s not like this Guitar Hero type.”

I’m With You is out August 30th although it’s probably time to start looking for it on file sharing sites. Check out the trailer for the live performance below and you can book ticket online here: http://www.rhcplivehd.com/
