Back in October, Robert Plant explained why he’s ruled out a Led Zeppelin reunion revealing that has a need to “keep moving”, highlighting the difficulties of repeating on “something that’s 49 years old”.

Although the greatest rock band to ever grace the earth may not be returning to the stage as united force anytime soon, Robert Plant dropped a few hints as to what we could expect from their 50th anniversary.

In a recent interview with The Current Plant said that they were currently in the process of “planning to get together to talk about” what they could possibly do to celebrate. He also revealed that even though the 50-year mark for the band will be a time of celebration, it’ll also mark 38-years since John Bonham’s death.

“Well, we’re planning to get together and talk about it. Basically, it’s very difficult to find stuff that still is unheard, and not only will it be 50 years, but it’ll be, next year, 38 years since John [Bonham] passed away.”

He went on to say that during their time, the band never “really chronicled” themselves, however, the 50-year anniversary will include “a book of photographs and stuff”. He also revealed that there were “pieces of music lying around”, however, not enough to fill an entire album.

“And the great thing about Led Zeppelin was that we didn’t chronicle ourselves; we just kind of went from town to town and sang songs and played guitars and stuff. And then went about our lives. The whole idea of chronicling the life of people in bands…

“In a way, I wish that we had more stuff to look at, but there will be a book of photographs and stuff. But some of it will be particularly interesting, I think. Beyond that, musically, there’s bits and pieces lying around, but not an album or anything like that.

“But there will be a celebration, I’m sure, somewhere. A cork will pop!”

Robert Plant will be making his way to Australia next month to perform at Bluesfest as well as a string of sideshows. Check out the dates below:
