Ticket sales for former Pink Floyd genius Roger Waters as he brings his lauded restaging of the band’s 1980/81 concert spectacular down under have gone through the roof. Playing to over 650,000 people on the North American leg of the tour, and selling out mega arenas in Europe and the UK, it was no surprise that the tour would do well here. As a result a fourth gig has been added in Melbourne, a third in Brisbane and a second in Perth to keep up with demand for tickets. Tickets for these three extra shows will go on sale at 9am Thursday September 8, with pre-sale tickets available from Tuesday September 6.
The Wall, one of the most elaborate rock shows in musical history, was performed live only 29 times during 1980/81, with it taking an intervening 30 years until brought to life again by Roger Waters and his band, performing the album in its entirety – including the
anthems ‘Another Brick In The Wall’, ‘Comfortably Numb’, ‘Mother’, ‘Hey You’ and ‘In the Flesh’. It features all the classic Roger Waters special effects, including the original Gerald Scarfe imagery, the crashing aeroplane,quadraphonic sound, pyrotechnics, gigantic inflatable puppets and flying pig, and adds the latest projection technology, video mapping and many elaborate effects.
