We’ve been hearing all sorts of rumours about the upcoming Soundwave Revolution festival – all of which we must point out are all unconfirmed. We’ve heard that the festival has struggled with ticket sales, that another two headliners were to be announced – possibly to replace Van Halen who it is rumoured were pulling out after Soundwave organisers struggled with dealing with their management.

Now a Tweet on LA hair metal band Steel Panther’s Twitter page states that the whole festival has been cancelled. Stix from Steel Panther has just tweeted this morning:

As yet there is no word from organisers as to the veracity of this statement but it sure doesn’t bode well for the likelihood of the festival going ahead. In fact, Soundwave Revolution’s Facebook and Twitter page haven’t been updated since Sunday; highly unusual given they usually update them every hour or so every day. AJ, Soundwave’s organiser has also remained silent, his last Twitter update on August 3rd stating:

The 2nd lineup announcement was supposed to be released over a week ago but has been delayed twice now with no word on when it may happen. Perhaps we now know why. We’ll keep you posted when we hear anything official from Soundwave.

Update: Triple J are now saying they’ve managed to speak to someone at the Soundwave office but they declined to comment whilst not denying the rumour.

Update: Soundwave Revolution has been officially cancelled
