Rumours that the Spice Girls may be headlining Glastonbury festival have been buzzing since their reunion tour was announced and people noticed a big Glastonbury sized hole in the tour schedule. The group that was once a five-spice blend announced their reunion without Victoria Beckham last month.

Adding to the rumours that 2019 could see the girl-group performing at the iconic festival for the first time, Mel B told The Sun “Glastonbury. It’s been talked about.” Before adding “But we’re so pop and it’s so cool — that’ll be funny to me.”

Scary Spice also said “I think Mel C would really appreciate us doing that — she’s the cool one. She’s the cool indie chick.” talking about a potential headlining spot at the festival. The fact that Mel B thinks the Spice Girls are too poppy to play Glastonbury makes us question whether she knows that much about the festival.

Recent instalments of the “cool” festival have featured headlining sets from incredibly cool and indie acts such as Coldplay, Adele, and even Katy Perry. Very cool. Very indie.

The 2019 instalment of Glastonbury Festival will take place on June 26-30th at Worthy Farm in Somerset, England. One of the festival organisers Emily Eavis recently revealed there’ll be another artist announcement before the end of the year in a recent BBC Radio 1 interview according to NME.

The only announced act for the festival so far is Friday night headliner Stormzy. On the choice of booking a grime artist as a headliner, Eavis told BBC Radio 1 “We at Glastonbury, we need to create headliners. We can’t always go over the same old ground.”
