The Temptations’ former singer Dennis Edwards has reportedly passed away, aged 74.

No cause of death has been confirmed at present, however, Edwards family confirmed the death to CBS News. Edwards was due to celebrate his 75th birthday tomorrow.

Edwards enjoyed three stints in the legendary Motown group, and became a member after the group sacked David Ruffin in 1968. Edwards sang lead on tracks like ‘Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone’ and ‘Cloud Nine’. Edwards was fired in 1977, but returned in 1980 when the act returned to their previous label home of Motown
