New Years Eve. Singlehandedly the best and worst night out on the calendar.

For many it starts with dreams of the best night out ever, which is often quickly followed by the worst hangovers ever. Of new life resolutions, quickly followed by remerging bad habits.

There’s overpriced drinks, overpriced entry, terrible DJs playing horrible music sure to give you a headache, and long queues to pretty much everything including the taxi rank home.

But for a lucky few in Western Australia, New Years Eve is now shaping up to be something pretty special, with the geniuses behind heavy music festival Unify teaming up with Red Hill Auditorium to announce Redfest – Perth’s first ever New Year’s Eve heavy music event.

Taking place at the picturesque Red Hill Auditorium, Redfest is the first New Year’s Eve event of its kind in Western Australia and will bring the very best of the burgeoning Australian heavy music scene to Perth and showcase them alongside fine local talent set to a breathtaking backdrop of the Perth cityscape.

Heading the inaugural Redfest will be The Amity Affliction. Redfest will be the first time The Amity Affliction has played in Perth in over a year since The Big Ass Tour in 2015.

As the band count down the days until the release of This Could Be Heartbreak, their fifth album follows on two consecutive ARIA #1 albums, one Platinum and three Gold records, as well as a ARIA #1 gold-certified documentary.

Supporting are Northlane – who will return to Perth off the back on absolutely massive year for the band which has seen them grow into one of Australia’s most successful heavy music exports – as well as Deez Nuts, hometown heroes Make Them Suffer, Hellions, and local legends Saviour.

Tickets for Redfest go on sale today at midday via Oztix, with tickets starting at a very reasonable $90.80 including booking fee.

And it wouldn’t be a New Years Eve event without a VIP offering now would it?

For what organisers have termed a “truly unique and unforgettable way” for everyone to bring in the new year, Redfest will be offering special VIP tickets (limited to 150).

VIP tickets will give punters who purchase them access to the VIP deck with a panoramic view over the event and the city, a private VIP bar with a selection of drinks not available anywhere else in the venue, own toilet facilities and a complimentary drink.

So what are you waiting for? Get your tickets now, otherwise you’ve only got yourself to blame when you end up at some crappy disco this NYE.
