Australia’s fusion legends The Cat Empire, have released a new song ‘Ready Now’ ahead of their massive upcoming Australian tour. The track is a culmination of the band’s “past, present and future”, featuring their signature eclectic take on smooth jazz and ska with pepperings of modern indie rock.

‘Ready Now’ was written by Felix Riebl and was inspired by a writing session with long-time collaborator and producer Jan Skubiszewski. The track was birthed out of noodling around a single chord arpeggio and synths, which came together in an epic, high-spirited affair.

“The new Cat Empire single Ready Now began as an accidental one hand arpeggio on a keyboard with an obnoxious synth horn sound on.

It turned into a hard-hitting and fairly epic sounding fanfare that sounds like a dark marching band in flight.  Lyrically it’s full of frustration and conflict, but the music gives it an edge of joy,”  says Riebl about the track.

Having dominated the Australian touring circuit for more than a decade now, the band are set to bring their energetic live show to some of the country’s biggest venues this September, bringing along soulful up and comer Odette along for the ride.
