Since a viral social networking campaign to announce their reformation in March, The Darkness have confirmed that not only will they play a number of festivals in Europe this Summer, they’ll also be pulling on the spandex catsuits for a world tour.

Front man Justin Hawkins has confirmed that not only will the band be reunited in their original line up of himself, brother Dan Hawkins, bassist Frankie Poullain and drummer Ed Graham, they have either gotten o loved up with each other again, or had such big cheques thrust in front of their faces that they’ll be heading out on a massive payday … err, world tour.

Hawkins says “There’ll probably be a The Darkness album in 2012, but somehow we’ll get new music out before then. A UK tour at the end of that year and then the world. Again.”

However, before the band start thinking of playing at Tokyo’s Budokan or indeed Los Angeles’ Coliseum, they’ll hit the stage for their first gigs since reuniting next month. They’ll be playing some not so glamorous UK venues including headlining the Norwich Waterfront on June 5, the Leamington Spa Assembly on June 6 and then finally embracing the bright lights of the big city at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on June 8.

These select gigs will serve as warm up appearances for their big comeback with brothers-in-spandex and leopard print, Def Leppard, at the Download Festival on June 10th.
