Dust off your spandex, The Darkness are officially back with a their first single since 2006. The British glam rock band rocked onto the world with the release of their debut album, Permission to Land, in 2003 lampooning a number of their contemporaries.

But a short two years later and the band was imploding with members quitting or entering rehab for cocaine and alcohol addiction. Turns out the joke isn’t as funny when you tackle it by method acting.

But last year, despite no one really asking for it, front man Justin Hawkins declared that not only were the band set to reunite with their original lineup of himself, brother Dan Hawkins, bassist Frankie Poullain and drummer Ed Graham, but they were going to release new material before unleashing themselves upon the world with a tour.

In an interview at the time Hawkins said “There’ll probably be a The Darkness album in 2012, but somehow we’ll get new music out before then. A UK tour at the end of that year and then the world. Again.”

They may have missed their self-imposed deadline by a few weeks but the band have finally got their act together to release the single ‘Nothings Gonna Stop Us’ along with a brand new music video.

Check it out below and let us know if you think they’ve found their groove again.
