The Familiars & The Vanns Co-Headline Australian Tour 2013 has been announced, with the two self-booked, self-managed bands joining forces to hit the road.

Currently based in Byron Bay, The Familiars make full-blooded, guitar driven indie rock and “are sure to do amazing things in the Australian Indie scene” as our Tone Deaf reviewer wrote of a recent live show. ““Do yourself a favour and acquaint yourself with The Familiars.”

It’s been almost two years since the band wandered into a small venue in Brisbane to play their first show. Since then, they’ve played with cool people like The Basics, Kingswood, City Riots, and StickyFingers, had their tracks on rotation with FBi and Triple J Unearthed, released an EP through MGM and toured the east coast three times over.

Having released their new single ‘Let You Down’ (watch/listen here), The Familiars are set for another national trek with their goo musical mates, The Vanns.

Born in a Kiama garage and influenced by the old school blues and that new genre they call “indie”, The Vanns started a band. And things seemed to have worked out pretty well for the four piece so far.

Triple J have hailed the band has having “good poppy tunes soaked into their skin,” and they took out first place in the Red Bull Bedroom Jam, which scored them a spot on the 2012 Homebake lineup and more recently, they were chosen as “Breakthrough New Artist” for Vivid’s Ideas Sessions.

Their songs have received airplay on FBi and Triple J, with rotation on the Unearthed station, while the last two years have seen The Vanns play with Kingswood, Tim Rogers, The Getaway Plan, JinjaSafari, The Bamboos, and Sticky Fingers. The Vanns release their new single, titled “Belmore Street”, today (Wednesday 20th November).

Don’t miss your chance to catch these two emerging Aussie bands as they travel the country together.
