Sure we’ve heard about you before, but we think it’s time for Tone Deaf to get to know you a little better. Slip in to something comfortable while we put on some music, pour us a couple of drinks and turn the lights down low. So, tell us about yourselves…Who are you – who who? We really wanna know….

Who are you and what do you do in your act?

I’m Tom, I play the drums, along with some sensual backup melodies. If the situation ever called for it, I’d step up for an interpretive dance section of the show.

‘Fess up. What records have you stolen from your parents’ record collection and why?

Between the two of us we’ve raided our Dad’s collections for Stevie Ray Vaughan, Hendrix, Ray Charles, Beatles etc. Oli could only play blues chords on guitar at the time, so these guys seemed like a good listen.

What’s on heavy rotation on your iPod right now?

We have both been loving some Mellow Hype, Dirt farmer, Fitz and the Tantrum, Gotye, and The Strokes is always up there.

‘Home taping is killing the music business’ was the catch-cry of the record industry in the 1970s and 1980s, but it managed to survive until now. What do you think is the difference between mates taping copies of friend’s records back in the 80s and 90s and file sharing now?

File sharing is easier, the industry has been more successful, but is less necessary now.

You must answer this question honestly or we steal your rider. What was the first gig you went to? Where was it and what was the venue?

I was dragged along to the Byron Bay Blues Festival with my parents one year when I was pretty young. Turned out to be a good time after I saw James Brown’s big band play some funky tunes, although I never actually saw him on stage, I think I fell asleep! Oli would have killed to go to a Backstreet Boy’s show.

What’s your favourite site to download music from and do you ever pay for it? Can we find any of your releases there?

Bandcamp, artist power baby! Yes, you can find our releases there.

What artist made you want to pick up an instrument and/or sing?

Oli pretty much wanted to be Jimi Hendrix for a while there.

Have you ever been arrested?

No, we’re good little boys.

Do you have any particular ritual before you go on stage, or even a lucky charm you take with you?

Black sambuca….woop!

Supposing you were to be playing sold out stadiums on your next tour, what outrageous rider requests would you submit?

I want all the sultanas from the sultana bran, a deep-fried steak, and a waterslide in the green room.

Because it’s more fun to do things together, which living Australian artist would you most like to collaborate with? Tell us why?

Tame Impala, cause they’re rad and we’ve seen them a million times.

Right, let’s get really intimate. Tell us what releases you have that we can listen to with the lights down low, or even better, where we can see you play in person next. Naturally, don’t forget to give us the link to your Facebook fan page too.

We just released our single “Quarter” on General Pants co. Major Label! Its rad those guys took notice. Not sure if that track has a lights down low kinda vibe, but another tack off our debut EP ‘Slave’ gets pretty sexy.

We’re playing
