Songs are the soundtracks of music fans’ lives – it’s amazing what memories, emotions and places one little three or four minute recording can conjure up for us. Let’s find out what songs get you high, make you want to dance or leave you a blubbering mess and give us a little explanation why.

Song to gear up for a big Saturday night?

You can’t go past John Lennon’s “Whatever Gets You Through The Night”. Featuring Elton John on piano and backing vocals, this song is a coked up disco inferno that was made to boogie!

“Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones. Every time I hear this song in a bar or club, I can’t help but putting my hands on my hips and pounce into a Mick Jagger strut. Classic.

Song for a hung over Sunday morning?

I really don’t like listening to anything when I’m hungover… But I guess if I had to choose, I’d go with “Sunday Morning” by The Velvet Underground. Because it’s gentle on the mind and I believe it was written on a Sunday morning.

Song to fall in love to?

“Don’t Worry Baby” by The Beach Boys. I could sit in the sunshine and mack on for hours on end with this song playing in the background.

Break up song?

“Without You” Badfinger.  Badfinger really are just a shitty version of The Beatles. Nevertheless this is a fantastic song!

Cheesiest song you’re proud to admit you love?

“Fresh Prince Of Bel Air Theme Song”. Tell me who doesn’t know all the words to this song?

Your karaoke song?

“House Of The Rising Sun” The Animals. I actually did this song at a Karaoke bar once. And I almost won a free jug of beer! Almost!

Favourite Australian song?

There are so many great Australian bands let alone songs! But I’ll have to go with the legendary  “Eagle Rock”  by Daddy Cool.

Song you never want to hear again?

Anything by Ke$ha.

Drumroll … the greatest song ever written?

It’s actually impossible to say! But for the sake of this Q&N… “A Day In The Life” by The Beatles. This song was revolutionary when it came out. And it’s still mind blowing to this day. Tell them to play it at my Funeral.
