The Fratellis Australian Tour 2014 has been announced.
The rip-roaring Scottish trio made a welcome, exciting return with their new album We Need Medicine last November, and now the Glasgow mavericks are making a long overdue visit to Australian shores.
Touring Down Under this April, Soundwave Touring presents three special headline shows from The Fratellis and if their recent shows overseas are anything to go by, Aussie fans are in for brilliant evening of breathless, brash entertainment.
The Fratellis have been creating heart-swelling, lung-bursting anthems since 2006 (‘Dolly Dagger’, anyone?) with a short hiatus in 2009, but the lads are now back and in career best form – releasing one of the best comeback albums in recent years in 2013’s We Need Medicine, “which more than justifies the return of the Glasgow knockabouts,” as our Tone Deaf reviewer wrote.
Leading with cracking single ‘Seven Night Seven Days’ (their first new music in five years) guitarist Jon Fratelli screaming, “I’ll be the comeback kid/on his way home from hell” in fitting form.
The follow-up to 2008′s Here We Stand retained the trio’s brand of jumpy up-tempo hit-making, but also has expanded into other stylistic terretories – such as the countrified guitars, humming organs, and rolling bar piano lines on ‘Seven Night Seven Days’- drawn from the band’s time in side-projects; Jon Fratelli’s own stint in The Codeine Club and bassist Barry Fratelli touring with The Twang.
