Hotly tipped Perth band The Growl have announced East Coast dates this month and next to give music lovers the chance to see what’s making them buzz so much in Western Australia. Their recently released EP Cleaver Leaver has been setting tongues wagging with its dirty garage rock sound, chock full of out of tune guitars, plinky plonk piano and shattered cymbals.

Picking up heaps of radio play courtesy of singles ‘Smoke It Down’ and ‘3,6,9, the band’s EP was mastered by Brian Lucey of Magic Garden Mastering in Columbus Ohio, the sound whizz responsible for the quality of sound found on The Black Keys’ latest album Brothers. The band have picked up nominations for Favourite Newcomer, Best Drummer and Most Promising New Act at the 2011 WAMi Awards, with winners set to be announced on May 28.

In the meantime, they might struggle to attend any award ceremonies because they’re firing up the Tarago and making the trek East to play dates in Melbourne and Sydney. Check them out!
