The Holidays Australian Tour 2014 has been announced to celebrate the official release details of the band’s new album.

The album tour commemorates the release of The Holidays’ Real Feel, out 21st February via Liberation Music, and following on from the band teasing fans with new material and three accompanying shows last October for ‘Voices Drifting‘, the three-piece embark on a full-scale tour beginning March.

Real Feel was painstakingly created over two years across countless cities and continents. The band have already given fans a preview of the record with the release of ‘Voices Drifting’ and current single ‘All Time High’. Both tracks have been well received locally and internationally and give an insight into the mood and feel of The Holidays’ evolving sound.

Lead singer Simon Jones describes the album as “a travelogue of the last few years, ideas sketched in different places while experiencing something; wonder, isolation, stress, happiness. Then slowly taken apart and scrutinised and run through amplifiers and synthesisers only to find that often the original feeling was the purest and then joyfully getting back to that.”

“This was a difficult record to make, always searching for a sound just beyond our grasp, narrowing in and trying to capture some essence. I had an idea for a sound that I couldn’t quite name or explain, a vague feeling, somewhere between love and loneliness, like a daydream where you can’t quite remember the content but the feelings you had remain. I guess that’s what this album is, trying to make real the intangible feelings of a few years of living.”

Real Feel is the follow up to the band’s acclaimed debut, Post Paradise. It won the Red Bull Award for Best Debut as part of 2011’s Australian Music Prize and scooped the award for Best Album at The Age’s annual EG Awards in 2010. It also saw the band play a host of sold out shows across Australia along with headline and festival dates in the UK and the USA.
