It’s great to not only see Aussie bands doing well on the touring circuit but to receive news that they’re still able to sell records despite the current climate overshadowing the music industry.

Following on from their success just a few short months ago when their EP Dark Storm went gold, sydney four-piece The Jezabels have bucked the trend and done it again; with their debut LP Prisoner officially reaching gold status for sales in Australia today.

The news is well timed as the band had just returned from overseas to play Homebake last weekend. It caps off a fantastic year for the group that have grown from strength to strength receiving three ARIA nominations for Single Of The Year, Break Through Artist Of The Year and Best Independent Release, as well as being awarded the gongs for Best Independent Artist and Best Independent Single at the AIR Awards.

If you haven’t seen The Jezabels you are sorely missing out, so make sure you get along to one of the many shows they’re performing in Australia this summer including both Southbound and The Falls Music & Arts Festivals.

After a brief jaunt overseas they will again return to play The Big Day Out tour nationally. Check out their latest music video for ‘Trycolour’, taken from Prisoner, below:
