I’m Leon, I sing in The Lazys. We’re a straight up Australian rock band. We have been together around 5 years now and have toured Australia many times. Of recent we just completed an EP called Temptation Never Liked You. We will be touring around Oz in support of its release in the coming few months, and we can’t wait to hit the road and bring new tunes and some of our old faves to our fans across Australia.

What’s your earliest memory of performing and who inspired you to start?

My earliest memories performing were not with The Lazys but with my dad’s stage band. I played the drums. I guess it was my Dad who inspired me the most, because he made me get up and play.

You must answer this question honestly or we steal your rider. What and where was the first gig you went to?

The first gig I went too would have been Silverchair. I’m great at stealing riders.

‘Fess up. What records have you stolen from your parent’s record collection and why?

Paul Simon, melodically he’s brilliant. His songs are so catchy you just wanna sing along.

What’s on heavy rotation on your iPod right now?

Aretha Franklin.

How do you find new music?

I used to live with the manager of our local HMV so basically we would have a few beers and listen to all sorts of music. I loved it, it was like the dream collage!

Do you have any particular ritual before you go on stage, or even a lucky charm you take with you?

Not really, I like to have a few beers and suck it all in.

If you could curate your own festival, where would it be, who would be on the bill, how many people would you let in and what features would it have?

It would be at Terrigal Haven. I would like to put a heap of unknown bands on to give the festival more energy. Of course some big names too like Alice in Chains, Janes Addiction, The Killers etc. As for attractions I would have plenty of bars ’cause sinking piss and watching live music go hand in hand.

When you’re Rolling Stones Big, what are you going to request on your rider: don’t be shy. We want specifics!

Cold beer will always do me just fine.

Because it’s more fun to do things together, which living Australian artist would you most like to collaborate with? Tell us why?

Silverchair. Musically the band never ceased growing. Whether or not you love their later work, the band always pushed the limits and never settled for second best. Their work is a true testiment to Australian music. I would wanna work with this band because this is something I want for my own band. Continual musical growth.

What is your band’s music the best soundtrack for?

We do a lot of sports, and recently one of our songs was chosen for a new hollywood flick!!

Where we can see you play next, what releases do you have available and where can we get them?

Our EP tour for  Temptation Never Liked You starts tonight. All dates are at our Facebook, our releases are on iTunes as well, including our debut album, released in 2010, called Prison Earth.
