We’d like to know a little bit about you for our files, but we don’t like regurgitating press releases or asking the easy questions. At Tone Deaf we only ask the tough questions, so just hold still, grit your teeth, clench your buttocks and be still while we put on the rubber gloves, apply the thumbscrews, and pull out our thermometer while you open up and say ahhhhhhhhhhh… Truthful answers only or we drink your rider while you’re on stage.

Who gets the most ‘off stage action’ in the band? What’s the secret to their success?

Probably those of us who aren’t single. I think that’s the point of not being single. Luckily for the rest of the world, that’s only one of us. Which one? That would be telling…

Have you ever been arrested? Where were you, and what was it for?

Yes. I ran a red light on my bike and decided to try and outrun the police. Which was silly, in hindsight, since they were in a car. I was tackled to the ground and handcuffed. It hurt quite a lot. But it was worth it.

What’s been the worst day job you’ve ever had?

My first job was as a chemist delivery boy. I’d deliver drugs to elderly people whose houses smelled quite bad, then I’d have to wash methadone bottles. The worst day job I’ve ever had was in customer service.

Sex, drugs and groupies – In what order do you prefer them and how often?

What are you doing with groupies if you’re not having sex with them? In any case I think it’s important to mix up the order. Variety is the spice of life.

Take us back to the first gig you went to. Where was it and what was the venue?

Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Glass House in Melbourne. I was about 13 and I got my Dad to take me. It was awesome.

What’s your favourite site to download music from and do you ever pay for it? Can we find any of your releases there?

We discovered Grooveshark in the states, and you don’t even have to download it, just stream anything you can think of. Embarrassingly, our very first EP is up there. We’d take it down if we could…

What’s the furthest you’d go to win over a new fan?

Probably somewhere in Russia – I think that’s the furthest you can get from where we are now. And we’d go there.

Right, here’s the plug section – tell us about upcoming gigs/tours and releases.

Our new album was released in March. And we head off on a National Tour starting this week. We’re going to all the big cities and plenty of not-so-big cities.
