After 55 years in the business, criminally-overlooked English rockers The Pretty Things are set to pack up their instruments for the last time, but not before giving Aussie fans one last chance to rock out.

Formed in 1963 by Dick Taylor and Phil May after Taylor quit The Rolling Stones, The Pretty Things gained a reputation as one of the best bands of last century to have never scored a major hit in the US market.

While the band managed to gain plenty of success in countries such as Australia thanks to tracks like ‘Rosalyn’, ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’, and ‘Honey I Need’, the group’s biggest brush with fame came thanks to the influence of David Bowie, who covered the former two songs on his 1973 album Pin Ups, and mentioned the group by name in a number of songs over the years.

Now, after having announced last month that the group are set to call it quits at the end of the year, The Pretty Things have announced an Aussie tour, their first since 2012, and the last chance Aussie fans will have to ever see the group play live.

Kicking off in Sydney on October 3rd, the group are set to perform shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, Geelong, and Adelaide, before wrapping things up in Perth on October 14th. The Pretty Things are also set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their iconic 1968 album S.F. Sorrow while in the country, performing the record in full during their gig at Victoria’s Thornbury Theatre on October 6th.

Considering that The Pretty Things were one of those bands to tick off a number of ‘firsts’ in their career, including performing the first rock opera, having released the first garage-rock single, and being at the centre of the first ever rock and roll drugs bust, don’t miss out on seeing the group perform on Aussie shores for the last time.

Tickets to The Pretty Things’ final Aussie tour are set to go on sale at 10am on Friday, July 20th.
