Melbourne’s dub/reggae racketeers, The Red Eyes will kick off a national tour, at the Northcote Social Club, Melbourne, on October 15 in support of new single ‘Circles’. The track, from the band’s forthcoming third record, is a comment on the exhausting musicians’ life: where life is a constant tour and where artists sometimes feel like the music industry’s bottom feeders.

Red Eyes producer King Charlie took the newly-recorded track all the way to Brooklyn, Noo Yawk, to mix the work at the Andy Baldwin Studio, a luxury for the independent band, who are more and more interested in creating opportunities for themselves outside the mainstream.

It’s been a long, winding, but fulfilling road: the band’s second album, Red Army, a reminder of their energetic show, was nominated for a Best Blues and Roots Album ARIA (lead singer El Witeri was a finalist for APRA songwriter of the year), appeared at Byron Bay Bluesfest and on the Australian Raggamuffin tour with Jimmy Cliff and Mary J Blige.

In November The Red Eyes launch their summer at Vanuatu’s Fest Napuan, followed by Victoria’s Queenscliff Music Festival and Shine On Festival, and WA’s Life’s A Beach Festival before they head to NZ for a Homecoming Tour – giving El Witeri and fellow-Red Eye Damien Charles a chance to visit home.

Tickets for the official Melbourne launch are available here.
