The Shins are set to complete a new album, the much anticipated and long awaited follow up to 2007’s Wincing The Night Away.  They’ve announced on their website www.theshins.com that the band are about to head out on a short US tour after which they’ll complete work on their new long player. The statement regarding the tour says “The setlist will likely feature material from the long awaited fourth Shins album, which James Mercer will complete following the tour.”

The new album will be the first release from The Shins since James Mercer teamed up with producer Danger Mouse in 2009 to form the Broken Bells project, which saw them release an eponymous indie rock album in 2010, followed up by an EP of new material entitled Meyrin Fields in March this year.
