The Lulu Raes

Why? Fresh off the stage from Bigsound and Small World Festival, as well as shows with Holy Holy, Sydney four piece Lulu Raes are on a headline tour stopping off in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney this month. They’ve gained a lot of love for their ensuous Beatles-like chord progressions, love for 70s disco beat floor-fillers and the underdog brit-pop vocals of frontman Eddie Bomber, so head along and see what the fuss is about.

Sable + Catlips + More

Where? Jack Rabbit Slim’s, 133 Aberdeen Street, Northbridge, Perth
When? 10pm, Friday 6th November
Why? The annual WAM festival is kicking off tomorrow, showcasing the best talent West Australia has to of ere (and trust us, it’s heaps). As part of WAM a huge buffet of shows on offer and one of these said shows is the Pilerats showcase on Friday. The showcase Sable, Floria, Catlips and TIME PILOT all for zero dollars, that’s a pretty sweet deal.

Malo Zima

Where? Black Bear Lodge, 322 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane
When? 8pm, Friday 6th November
Why? Atmospheric alt‐rock group Malo Zima are launching their debut EP Cornerstone at the Ol’ Black Bear and it’s an incredibly impressive effort from the Brisbane five piece. After locking themselves in a studio for far too long, the quintet have finally produced a stunning EP which displays the band’s penchant for melancholy and all the noise that comes with it, hear it live this weekend and feel all the emotions.

Black Majesty + The Radio Sun

When? 8pm, Saturday 7th November
Why? Love power metal? Well head to Cherry this Saturday to see rockers Black Majesty blow the roof off Melbourne’s fave crock bar alongside band mates The Radio Sun for a double album launch. Two records, two bands, twice the rock – all for the price of one? Done.

Crepes + The Infants + More

Why? Tastemakers and killer local label Deaf Ambitions are celebrating their ‘official’ launch with a full live artist showcase at Howler, this week. With some of Melbourne’s most exciting new talents, including Crepes, The Infants, Leisure Suite and Redspencer, performing alongside up-and-comers Tourist Dollars and Zone Out. With Guest DJ performances from 3RRR’s Jason Moore and Simon Winkler it’s set to be a cracker.

Pool Boy + Jamyang

Why? Once again WAM, comes up with the goods, as part of the festival showcase killer Perth label Status Factory Records will be hosting a showcase on Friday at Babushka Leederville. Featuring the talents of local party starters Pool Boy, Jamyang and soundtracked by DJ and vibe king Aslan – WA crew get along and start your weekend right!

Hannah Cameron + Canary

Where? The Gasometer, 484 Smith St, Collingwood, Melbourne
When? 8pm, Wednesday 4th November
Why? Featuring a double banger of an album launch (Hannah Cameron) and a single lunch (Canary) this gig has your hump day blues sorted. Cameron, The Melbourne singer’s talent for introspective songwriting alongside the  psychedelic pop of Canary is a match made in heaven.

Ears Have Ears Party

Where? 107 Projects, 107 Redfern Street Redfern, Sydney

Why? Ears Have Ears, FBi Radio’s award-winning soundtrack program and curators of everything weird and wonderful will be bringing you a night of electro-acoustic, instrumental and electronic music featuring musicians from Sydney and beyond. Featuring Electro-acoustic composer Joe Talia and techno influence producer Matthew Brown, this show is set to be a serious sonic journey.

Holy Serpent

Why? Holy Serpent are hitting the East Coast for the second time in the past six months this November & December. Scott, Nick, Diamond Dave and Keith will dragging their monolithic slab of psychedelic doom-metal through, Sydney, Brisbane and finally back home to Melbourne, but first they’ll tear the roof of the ol’ Cranker.
