Splendour In The Grass visitors Thievery Corporation have announced they’ll be playing two festival sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne this August. Thievery Corporation have just released their sixth album, Culture of Fear, which sees the band continuing on a roll which has seen them sell 1.2 albums over their career Stateside, blending musical styles in their trademark fashion; ranging from space-rock jams leading to hip-hop inspired grooves, chilling out to airy down-tempo trances and reggae and dub infused vibes.

Teaming up with skilled session in addition to the usual suspects like multilingual chanteuse Lou Lou and dancehall toaster Sleepy Wonder back to lend their haunting vocals, they’ve added several new contributors to the Corporation; with hip hop MC Mr. Lif hitting the mic on title track ‘Culture of Fear’, rising star Ras Puma dropping mystic incantations on “False Flag Dub” and roots reggae throwback “Overstand.” It’s not all fire and brimstone however, as Shana Halligan of Bitter:Sweet coos sultrily over booming tribal rhythms on “Is it Over?” while hotly tipped newcomer Kota lends angelic and sprightly verses on album closer “Free.”
