Radiohead put on a good show, there’s no denying it. In fact, there are countless hours of footage that shows how the band, even in this day and age, still put on absolutely mind-blowing shows. What we’re getting at is that it’s pretty rare to see a bad Radiohead show. What’s even rarer though, is Radiohead performing as a duo.

Radiohead had previously announced a benefit gig in Italy’s Macerata Sferisterio stadium, to aid those affected by a number of catastrophic earthquakes that hit the area a year ago. On Sunday night, the gig went ahead as expected, with Radiohead performing in a rare duo format, made up of vocalist Thom Yorke, and multi-instrumentalist (but usually guitarist), Jonny Greenwood.

Taking to the stage on Sunday night, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood performed a 21 song set, made up mostly of rarities and often-overlooked tracks from the band’s back catalogue, with most tracks being played in a more acoustic, stripped-down style. In addition to dusting off tracks such as ‘Faust Arp’ and Thom Yorke’s solo track ‘Cymbal Rush’ for the first time in close to a decade, the duo also performed the unreleased track ‘Follow Me Around’ for the first time since 2010.

If you’re wondering where you might have heard ‘Follow Me Around’ before, it was notably featured in the Radiohead documentary Meeting People Is Easy. (You know, the one that brought triple j’s Richard Kingsmill to worldwide prominence?)

Of course, they couldn’t all be deep cuts, and the duo made sure to perform an encore made up of greatest hits, including ‘Pyramid Song’, ‘No Surprises’, and ‘Street Spirit (Fade Out)’.

Understandably, we’re totally jealous of those in attendance at this one-off gig, and we can only hope that we might be given something similar if Radiohead ever decide to hit up our shores once again.
