He’s the frontman of one of the most enigmatic, Internet-utilising bands of all time, so a recent series of Tweets from Thom Yorke understandably has a few Radiohead friends standing up and taking notice.

As Pitchfork notes, Thom Yorke took to Twitter recently to share a series of cryptic messages, as well as a strange piece of artwork. Understandably, folks have latched onto these Tweets as proof that there could be new music (or something else entirely) coming soon.

According to one user on Reddit, the artwork Tweeted my Yorke originally appeared in a 2006 art exhibition by longtime Radiohead artist Stanley Donwood. Others have noted that the image looks rather similar to the artwork created around the same time as Yorke’s debut solo record, The Eraser.

While some have begun theorising that maybe a new solo album is on the way, this would indeed line up with previous rumours about new material which seemed to begin back in 2017 when Yorke premiered new music, including the song ‘I’m A Very Rude Person’, at a rare solo show.

Some fans on Twitter though seem to be a little bit sick of the cryptic nature of Radiohead members and their music, with some sharing blunt statements on the site, including one user who rather simply wrote “Just release it Thom.”

While it seems like a rather typical message from the notoriously mysterious musician, it’s worth noting that this is also his first Tweet since January, with the majority of his posts usually containing messages of support for social causes and other musicians.

Also potentially noteworthy is the fact both Yorke and Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood have changed their Twitter pictures to white. Could this be an indicator of new music on the way, a new tour? Only time will tell, but right now we know that we’re keen for Thom Yorke to drop the mystery and just tell us what’s going on.
