Our good friends at the new kid in town in Melbourne, Thornbury Records, have heaps of stuff happening in their excellent music emporium for Record Store Day. As they’re a relatively new store and  going through permit processes to have live music in the store (and therefore can’t on the day), they’ve got plenty of treats to make the day special!

They’ve got 10% off all full priced vinyl!

They’re giving away free stuff every hour as they do their infamous Thornbury Records musical chairs on the hour at 12 – 8pm.

They’ve got imited Edition Rock Photography by Kate Griffin featuring artists such as Jarvis Cocker, Dirty Three, You Am I, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Flaming Lips, The Dead Weather and Eddy Current Suppression Ring, not to mention a bunch of the super limited edition US only Record Store Day releases. Although they can’t guarantee that they will be on the shelves on the day due to waiting for them to arrive from the US (and we all know what the postal service is like), they will have a list of the limited numbers that are coming in, and are happy to reserve them for you!

One special release that we will be featuring for the day is Adam Harding’s new 7” ‘Between You and Me There Is A Great Gulf Fixed’. For fans of Dinosaur Jr and Sonic Youth Adam’s Record Store Day 7″ includes the songs ‘Between’ b/w ‘Redrum’. It features guest players Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr) on bass, Daniel Herring (Magic Dirt) on guitar and Adam Robertson (Magic Dirt) on drums. Recorded at Head Gap, Thornbury and produced by Dean Dirt. Throw in the fact that their mighty Galalga table is back in action for all 80s arcade game fans and free turntable servicing quotes and you’d be mad to miss it!
