Welsh crooner and your Mum’s favourite pinup Tom Jones has been rushed to hospital, forcing the cancellation of a concert in the Mediterranean principality, Monaco, a playground for the rich and famous.

He had been due to perform in the capital Monte Carlo at the Salle des Etoiles at the seafront Sporting Club on Saturday night, but was rushed to Princess Grace hospital after what has been described as a heart scare.

Around midnight on Saturday theatre producer David Kind tweeted “Tom Jones not well. Tonights concert, at the Sporting Club, Monte Carlo, cancelled as Tom Jones admitted to hospital with a heart scare,” while a spokesperson for the venue said ‘I received a call at 8.10pm informing me that the event had been cancelled because Tom Jones had been taken to hospital.’

The 71 year old crooner of hits such as ‘The Green Green Grass of Home’ and ‘It’s Not Unusual’ had been due to perform for dinner guests at the exclusive venue, which was charging around $300 per head to see him swivel his hips and belt out the hits from his long career.

Initially staff at the hospital were unable to confirm whether he was a patient at the hospital, but latest reports suggest he had been moved out of emergency care, with French newspaper Le Figaro quoting a hospital official saying that his “condition inspires no concern”.
