Earlier this month, the 2019 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame nominations were announced, and for the third year in a row Nine Inch Nails missed out. In a recent interview the group’s frontman Trent Reznor has revealed he doesn’t really give a shit about it.

In an interview with Stereogum, the artist said “I saw somebody write something online or comment on Twitter like, ‘What could be less rock and roll than the fuckin’ Hall Of Fame?’ And that is authentically how I feel about it. I’ll say this: It’s nice to be appreciated. It’s nicer when it feels like that’s coming from a place that you care about,”

He continued, expressing the same distaste for other Awards such as The Grammys – “Like, a Grammy doesn’t mean a fuckin’ thing. It means a few assholes in a room that are trying to make a TV show have good ratings deciding, ‘Let’s give it to this guy.’ It doesn’t feel like it has any meaning behind it.

“The worst would be if we did [get inducted] and then what? We’d have to fuckin’ show up and jam? I can’t even imagine what that would be.”

The 2019 list of nominees includes Radiohead, Stevie Nicks, and Rage Against The Machine. 1000s of artists will now vote on who they think deserves the induction. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s class of 2019 will be formally inducted on March 29th, 2019 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York City.

Reznor concluded his thoughts on the Hall Of Fame by telling Stereogum “I’m not saying this as sour grapes, I honestly couldn’t give less of a shit. I’m not gonna sleep any better. Included or not. With that being said, it’s always nice to feel you’ve been appreciated to some degree but it’s not on my list of things I have to achieve before I die.”

Nine Inch Nails are currently on their Cold And Black And Infinite tour. On the first night they played their Broken EP in full. They also debuted their 1997 track “The Perfect Drug” live for the first time at a later show.
