We’re usually hanging out to hear what gets served up on Like A Version every week, and we’re not alone, with plenty of other people around the country tuning in to see whether triple j’s guests will turn out a triumphant take on a beloved hit – or miss the mark completely.

The latter is a rarity, and this morning seemed like no exception, with The Preatures taking on Arcade Fire seeming like a sure-fire winner, but unfortunately their moment of glory was completely stuffed up by the sound of silence for a big chunk of listeners.

It was midway through their take on ‘Everything Now’ that the station crapped out (apparently due to the sad passing of a radio transmitter), and fans, the band, and the station immediately swarmed socials to complain/explain, promising that the performance would be up online soon – and it now is:

For the listeners stuck at work with nothing but the radio, however, some seem to be better off than others. While some listeners ended up with an all-music breakfast show as a replacement (and seemed pretty happy with the result), others were left with nothing but silence or a looping message letting them know the station would be back in action soon.

Hopefully, rather than just popping it up online, triple j will give The Preatures their moment in the sun and squeeze it in on the airwaves a few times today to make up for the disruption – once they get their transmission sorted.
