Australia Day typically involves surrounding ourselves with plenty of mates, a few snags, a few more beers housed in someones backyard, providing they’ve got the adequate means to blast out Triple J’s Hottest 100. A timeless tradition carried out for many since it’s first in 1989, The Hottest 100 has witnessed many one-hit wonders that barely soaked as a flavour of the month to long-standing artists that we as Australian’s simply cannot get enough of.

Courtesy of the guys at hottest100.org, the following reveals the twenty best performing artists since the inaugural countdown. One hint we can provide with utmost pride, Australian artists outweigh the Internationals!

Rules of the list from hottest100.org: The way this list works is rather simple. For each song an artist gets, it’s given a score. A song in the #1 position gets 100 points, #2 gets 99 points, and so on until the #100 songs get 1 point. These are all added up into what is dubbed the ‘Hottest Number’ and put into a list in order to work out which artists have performed the best.
