This week has seen some pretty amazing additions to the triple j playlist, with plenty of well-deserved Aussie acts getting the recognition they need. Of course, it can’t all be homegrown talent, with lots of amazing international acts getting in on the action as well.

With so many brilliant artists and songs floating around the airwaves, it can be a little hard to keep track of what we’ve been listening to over the week. Well, thanks to our friends over at J Play, you don’t have to worry about not knowing who the most popular artists on triple j are each week any more.

20. Hockey Dad

After having an absolutely stunning beginning to the year, Windang’s Hockey Dad keep on proving why they’re one of the most in-demand groups in the country. With their second album, Blend Inn, still serving up the tasty tunes, ‘Sweet Release’ recently served as last week’s fourth most-played track on the airwaves.

19. Parcels

They’ve been the talk of the Aussie music press after having worked with electro-giants Daft Punk, but now Byron Bay’s Parcels have been doing the rounds on triple j lately, with ‘TIEDUPRIGHTNOW’ serving as this week’s twelfth most-played track.

18. CHVRCHES

CHVRCHES dropped their latest album, Love Is Dead, a couple of months ago, and fans couldn’t get enough of its brilliant tunes. Now, with the group having also performed at Splendour In The Grass recently, it’s hardly any surprise that their slick tracks have seen them get enough airplay to score a place on this list.

17. Golden Features

Golden Features recently dropped his debut album, SECT, and fans have been going wild for this stunning collection of tunes. With the record recently serving as triple j’s feature album, you can be certain that we’ll be hearing plenty more in the coming weeks from this stunning producer who continues to capture our hearts and imagination with every single track they drop.

16. Chance The Rapper

It’s pretty amazing to think that Chance The Rapper has been on the scene for six years now, has charted in the Hottest 100, and teamed up with huge named like Childish Gambino, all before the release of his debut album. While Chance dropped a handful of new singles a couple of weeks back, ‘Work Out’ has managed to find itself performing brilliantly on the charts this week, serving as this week’s 17th most-played track.

15. Hilltop Hoods

Hilltop Hoods recently returned with their stunning new single ‘Clark Griswold’, and it’s turned out to be an absolute banger. Featuring Adrian Eagle on vocals, this celebration of South Aussie talent has resonated with listeners enough to see it score the honour of being this week’s eighth most-played track. There’s a pretty strong chance this one could crack the Hottest 100 this year, but will it be enough to get the Hilltop Hoods past that #3 spot at long last?

14. BROCKHAMPTON

BROCKHAMPTON are gearing up to release their new album, The Best Years of Our Lives, at basically any minute now. Having already released a couple of year-themed tracks, including ‘1999 Wildfire’ and ‘1998 Truman’, fans have been digging these new ones enough to see the former score the honour of being named this week’s eleventh most-played track.

13. Methyl Ethel

Methyl Ethel had a pretty stellar 2017, having scored the #4 on the Hottest 100, and receiving plenty of acclaim for the brilliance of their record, Everything Is Forgotten. With the group’s tunes still getting loads of airplay on triple j, it’s hardly any surprise they’re back on the list of most-played acts this week.

12. Angie McMahon

Characterised by her powerful vocals and exceedingly impressive songwriting skills, Angie McMahon has been winning over fans for a while now. With tracks such as ‘Missing Me’, ‘Slow Mover’, and now ‘Keeping Time’ – this week’s seventh most-played track – having seen constant airplay, it won’t be long before the whole world is catching onto McMahon’s brilliance.

11. Ocean Alley

Ocean Alley have been one of the biggest Aussie bands of 2018, and there has hardly been a week where they haven’t made it into the list of most-played acts on triple j. With listeners loving the group’s stunning sound, you can expect the group to keep riding the wave of success, with their brilliant tunes continuously winning them new fans.

10. Fisher

Former pro surfer-turned muso Fisher has been one of the biggest acts on triple j this year thanks to his bangin’ tunes. Now, after having featured in a few Coachella sets with his track, Fisher dropped the official version of ‘Losin’ It’ a few weeks back, and fans have been lovin’ it. Currently the sixth most-played track on the station this week, this one is bound to be keep on rising to the top.

9. Flint Eastwood

Having been around for eight years now, Flint Eastwood have been steadily rising their profile for quite some time, delivering amazing tunes, and touring relentlessly around the world. After the release of their latest single, ‘Real Love’, for Pride celebrations, the group have become household names, with their music and message being adored by fans all over the world. Currently this week’s fifth most-played track, you can expect to hear a lot more from Flint Eastwood.

8. Odette

Having recently stunned the world of Aussie music with the release of her debut album, To A Stranger, Odette has been scoring plenty of love from the music-loving public. With ‘Lights Out’ currently the tenth most-played track on the station this week, 2018 is shaping up become a pretty huge year for the Sydney muso.

7. E^ST

E^ST has been absolutely knocking it out of the park lately, signing with US alt-rock label Fueled By Ramen and releasing the stunning ‘I Don’t Lack Imagination’, which is currently this week’s fourth most-played track. Having had an amazing few months, we’re completely excited to see what the future holds for this brilliant musician.

6. Skegss

Skegss are also hopping on the ‘new album coming soon’ train, with My Own Mess slated to be released in early September. Not content with letting their reputation as one of Australia’s best live acts do the talking for them, the group recently dropped their newest tune, ‘Smogged Out’. Fans have clearly been digging it as well, with the track being named this week’s third most-played.

5. Running Touch

It feels like only yesterday that Running Touch burst onto the airwaves with his stunning tunes, but in between serving as a member of Ocean Grove and being an amazing producer, we recently managed to receive his latest track, ‘My Hands’. Currently the second most-played track on the station, you can expect this one to rise to the top in no time.

4. Amy Shark

After plenty of excitement and a slew of stunning singles, Amy Shark recently released her debut album, Love Monster, to plenty of critical acclaim. Having scored a spot as triple j’s feature album and a #1 debut on the ARIA charts, Amy Shark is undoubtedly on top of the world right now. With ‘All Loved Up’ this week’s most-played track, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll be hearing plenty more from Amy Shark in the future.

3. Trophy Eyes

Trophy Eyes recently dropped their triple j feature album, The American Dream, and triple j listeners haven’t been able to get enough of the group’s blistering jams, pounding rhythms, and stunning vocals. With tracks such as ‘Friday Forever’ still doing the rounds and serving as this week’s 16th most-played track, you can count on the fact that Trophy Eyes are well on track to score a well-deserved spot in this year’s Hottest 100.

2. DMA’s

DMA’s recently returned with their latest album, For Now, and fans have been loving the group’s Britpop-infused tunes. While they’re nowhere to be seen in this week’s most-played tracks, it just goes to show how much fans have been loving this amazing group’s brilliant tunes.

1. Travis Scott

Almost two years on from the release of his last album, Travis Scott recently returned with his latest album, the chart-topping Astroworld. With last year’s ‘Butterfly Effect’ serving as a brilliant primer for the record, fans have been loving Travis Scott’s new tunes, with ‘Sicko Mode’ serving as one of the most popular tracks on the exceptional album.
